When Do You Say Life Starts? The Battle Over Abortion

When Do You Say Life Starts? The Battle Over Abortion Rages On.

Its an election year so there are a lot of debates going on as to when life starts.

When do you say life starts at conception, Once the baby’s heart beats, Once the baby’s movements can be felt, or maybe once the baby is born and you can see them with your eyes crying and moving?

Have you ever stopped when did God design it to start? When does he call this a different life?

Psalms 139: 16 speaks of God seeing the Psalmists unformed body. It speaks of God making his plans for him while he was yet unseen and the intimacy of God knitting him together in his mothers Womb.  These are the actions of a God who sees the child of human before most of society would consider it a child.

Did you know that as soon as an egg and sperm connect that mass of cells has its own unique set of DNA. This “mass of cells” is unique from the woman carrying it and unique from the man who helped create it. This mass of cells has become an independent life.  Thus a new beginning.

Just five weeks after this unique creation has formed the child begins to develop its own heart, brain and other organs. It is developing its intelligence and ability to pump its unique blood time throughout its body.  Did you notice that Unique blood time! You know the child can have a different blood type from its mother. This certainly doesn’t sound like a growth, this is another human!

At week five that child’s heart starts to beat! Its body begins pumping its fully human lifeblood through its body!

At week 9 the baby really starts to take form of a baby. They begin to form their fingers and toes. You know that over 40% of abortions proformed last year were done after week 9?

After the child has its own DNA, Its own blood type, Its own heart beat and fingers and toes 40% of abortions happen.

Please keep these thought in mind when deciding if you are pro life. Please keep these things in mind when voting in the 2012 elections. Please keep these facts in mind when you find out that your best friend, girl friend or you are pregnant!

I am an average woman in my mid 20's who has a heart for Teens. I have worked with my churches youth group for the past 6 years and seen the struggles that Teens face every day. My heart really goes out to them as they try to find their way in a world where anything goes! I married my high school sweet heart in 2004! You will see him on this site also. That is Jimmy! We have been together since our Sophomore year and have always found our selves in some ministry together. We currently serve with our youth group, and have small bible studies in our home. We realized that we had a heart for something much bigger and wanted to reach more with the hope of Jesus Christ. In 2011 We ran into Bob who had an idea for a radio station for Teens after praying and researching what was needed tayaradio.com was born! I am excited to see where this site goes and excited to get to know the readers and help you learn more about yourself and your walk with God.

  • One of the coolest points I have heard over this argument was one made by a speaker from the Pregnancy Care Center of Niles.

This woman talked about how each of us affects one person’s life, who then in turn affect’s another person’s life, and so on and so forth until one day, one of these individuals is going to accomplish something great for our society(i.e. cure cancer).

She then went on to ask which person was more important, because without even just one of them, that final person would not be the who they are today.

So, considering this, who are we to stop this process. God has plans for us to accomplish great things. By terminating a life, we are potentially altering the lives of countless others in the future because we took away that one link.

Everything that happens is part of God’s plan. I recognize that there are unplanned circumstances that may horrify us and catch us off guard, but God uses EVERYTHING for good. So, for those unplanned pregnancies, please try to keep in mind that God wants to use YOU and the LIFE you are so beautifully carrying for the good of the world. Please let him do so.

  • that is beautiful Jeli! I know that there are countless arguments both ways on this. But I have heard several beautiful stories about the outcome of an unplanned pregnancy even in cases of rape.

The most beautiful story I heard was the book the Missing piece: finding God’s peace in your past by Lee Ezell. This book tells of a rape victim who ends up pregnant. It is a Must read! (its a true story)

I also would encourage you to always keep adoption as an option too when facing an unplanned pregnancy. There are many families on waiting lists to take a baby that you may not be in the situation to care for. There is no shame in this! If this is a choice you choose you are making the most precious sacrifice you can!

  • In regards to voting, what about the fact that there is no statistical reduction in abortion when it is made illegal while it drives up maternal mortality rates? What about legislators that want to make birth control illegal or difficult to obtain and therefore increase abortion? Isn’t voting to overturn Rowe v Wade a simplistic approach to ending abortion?
The way I see it the best way to end abortion is through honest education and access to birth control as well as providing social safety nets to women who feel that they are unable to keep their wanted child due to financial reasons. Voting on a purely pro-life standpoint this is reasoning alone for me to vote Democratic. Aside from that what did any former Republican do to end abortion?

    Questioning

  • Questioning, You have a very valid point about education and support networks being more valuable then voting. Though voting pro-life is important there are always several things to consider when choosing a candidate, we can save those debates for another blog.

It is important to be educated in pro life issues and abortion votes that come up, so when American’s are given the opportunity to voice their opinion on abortion we are ready to take an educated stand.

I do realize that if someone wants an abortion and it is illegal there are still places they can get them done that are much more dangerous. Though making abortions less accessible will cause many people to put more consideration into what they are doing before going through with it.

More education for the mother before going through with an abortion such as, explaining risks and exactly what is happening would be a great way to reduce abortions.

I also believe that waiting periods before having an abortion allow a Woman to carefully consider her decision. This is a life altering decision that needs to be given much thought.

I agree that educating Women on options available in an unplanned pregnancy is key. I have known a few people who have found themselves in this position and they feel they have very limited options. often they feel their life is done. This is the time when the pro life voice is most valuable.

These girls need to know that there is help for parenting, and there are many ways of doing adoption.

The encouragement of abstinence will also help greatly in unplanned pregnancy. In our society practicing abstinence is a difficult stand to take. But it is the most effective way of reducing the risk of unplanned pregnancy.

Thank you for bringing up some good points Questioning!
