Pray For Our Country
This weekend my pastor gave a message based on Hosea 14:1-9. This passage of scripture talks about the Isreal and the dire place they are in. It talks of their lostness and the pain and brokeness their land is experiencing because of Their sin.
Our pastor drew some parallels between Iseral and America and issued us a challenge and I enjoyed it so much I want to pass it along to all of you!
Is Homosexuality OK?
I don’t think it is possible to watch the news on any station without some reference or story to homosexuality. With the upcoming presidential election, it is garnering more interest from all demographics. Where do the candidates stand on this issue? For some people, this is the only thing they will base their decision on. I probably don’t have to tell you that homosexuality is becoming one of the number one, if not the number one, social issue in this country and arguably the world. This topic has been previously covered by Erica, but I want to take a more scientific approach to homosexuality.
Intolerance of Tolerance
As many of you are familiar with, Chick-Fil-A has gotten many hours of the public’s attention because of the President’s, Dan Cathy, views on gay marriage, namely his opposition to it. One of the main points of this controversy was an Alderman in Chicago not wanting Chick-Fil-A to open up a store just because of the President’s views on gay marriage. All this discussion brings up a deeper issue: We supposedly live in a society that should be tolerant of all views, but doesn’t this controversy (and the actions of the Alderman in Chicago) suggest that tolerance really isn’t a status quo, but more of an idealized end goal?
