The opening scene of Les Miserables you see men walking off of a ship a heave ring around their neck, their wrists and ankles together and weighed down with cuffs and chains. They are weak, dirty, and bend over from the burden they carry. This scene reminded me of how we are spiritually when sin is in our life. It slowly binds, burdens us and slows us down. It restricts our movement and eventually renders us useless for anything but what the slave master, Sin wants us to do.
Heavenward
Today our media floods us with things we need to get. New cars, clothes, houses and gagets. It tells us we must look a certain way to keep up an image, or act a certain way to be liked by people. We get exhausted and run ourselves ragged trying to earn the money to buy these things or to make your body cooperate to achieve the look.
Don’t Get Discouraged With This Earthly Tent
I have had my share of struggles with this earlthy tent of mine. It gets tattered, painful, and doesn’t seem to act the way I hope it would. Sometimes I get discouraged as I watch it change and deteriorate a little as I get older, and even get scared when the doctor tells me bad news.
This earthly tent I’m talking about is my body. You might be wondering why I’m calling it a tent, let me explain and hopefully it will give you some hope as you face day to day struggles with your own tent.
More Beautiful You
Bikini’s, tight shirts, and tight pants. Sweatpants, baggy shirts, and sweatpants. When you look at these two groups of clothing, the first thing you compare is yourself and what you wear.
Am I Worth Anything?
Sometimes when you look around your church or youth group you see those people who can sing well or who are great speakers or have tons of friends then you look at yourself and say am I really worth anything to God? Is there anything I can do to help his kingdom?
Let Me Fade
Today my devotional was in John Chapter 3. This is a really fascinating passage of scripture with many truths to explore!
John 3 29-30 says
“The bride belongs to the bridegroom. The friend who attends the bridegroom waits and listens for him, and is full of joy when he hears the bridegroom’s voice. That joy is mine, and it is now complete. He must become greater; I must become less.”
I Don’t Matter – Or Do I?
I find so often that I don’t matter. I pour my heart out to a person and spend months getting to know them and they move on. I work my butt off at my job and no one notices. I exercise for hours and loose a few pounds and not one person says I look pretty.. I simply don’t matter.
I Hate Myself
Sitting in my dorm room last night, I began writing this confession to God about my day. Basically, it came down to this (Mind you, everything I am telling you is the absolute truth):
“I hate myself and that is my confession.” More…
Beautiful
The days will come when you don’t have the strength
When all you hear is you’re not worth anything
Wondering if you ever could be loved
And if they truly saw your heart they’d see too much
You’re beautiful
You’re beautiful
You are made so much more than all of this
You’re beautiful
You’re beautiful
You are treasured, You are sacred, You are His
You’re beautiful
I’m praying that you have the heart to find
Cause you are more than what is hurting you tonight
For all the lies you’ve held inside so long
And they are nothing in the shadow of the cross
You’re beautiful
You’re beautiful
You are made so much more than all of this
You’re beautiful
You’re beautiful
You are treasured, You are sacred, You are His
You’re beautiful
Before you ever took a breath
Long before the world began
Of all the wonders He possessed
There was one more precious
Of all the earth and skies above
You’re the one He madly loves
Enough to die
You’re beautiful
You’re beautiful
In His eyes
You’re beautiful
You were meant for so much more than all of this
You’re beautiful
You are treasured, You are sacred, You are His
You’re beautiful
You’re beautiful
You’re meant for so much more than all of this
You’re beautiful
You’re beautiful
You are treasured, You are sacred, You are His
