The opening scene of Les Miserables you see men walking off of a ship a heave ring around their neck, their wrists and ankles together and weighed down with cuffs and chains. They are weak, dirty, and bend over from the burden they carry. This scene reminded me of how we are spiritually when sin is in our life. It slowly binds, burdens us and slows us down. It restricts our movement and eventually renders us useless for anything but what the slave master, Sin wants us to do.
To Save A Friend
How far would you go to save a friend? Would you say a prayer for them? Inconvenience yourself? Go against social protocol? Risk embarrassment?

Today I was cleaning out the many boxes sitting in my basement which have grown smellier by the years and I realized something.
Amongst the boxes of random dishes and mismatched sheets, there were boxes and boxes of papers.

Boy Hurts Girl
The Boy and the Girl dated for years and even went to church. Their relationship was growing and they thought they had a good thing going.
The boy had a secret. This secret had not yet surfaced and the girl had no idea what to expect. The boy had an addiction, to women and images that society makes sound so normal. This addiction to pornography started to blur the lines between reality and fantasy and reared its ugly head in their relationship. The problem came to a head and the girl found out. She was shocked, devastated and hurt.

Every weekend I check the website for our local news and I see another shooting, Another breaking and entering another drug bust. it is easy to get discouraged and give up on our world but we shouldn’t.
Romans 8:37 tells us through Christ we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. This verse tells us that we are not defeated and this fight is not over! God can still use us to salvage this world.
So don’t be down heartened! There is nothing humans have messed up that God can put back together!
Hard Truths and The Last Supper
The disciples who have been following Jesus, are reclining at the table celebrating the Passover feast the out of the blue Jesus reveals the first hard truth of the night, “I tell you the truth one of you will betray me“. A gasp spreads across the table and everyone looks at one another. You hear a chorus of “NOT ME” ringing out from all the men who have been serving Jesus.
