Money Is My Home Boy: When The Love of Money Attacks

in_greed_we_trust

We live in a dog eat dog society, anything is allowed as long as it gets you to the top, because everyone wants to be successful, to be that guy driving the nice car wearing the nice suit. However, the problem with our view on acquiring such success is that we believe that there are no moral bounds in things like politics.

So, what motivates us to break our moral core?

The answer is obvious– the love of money.

We as humans love money. It feeds us. It clothes us. It fulfills our desires.

Yet, this is FALSE! Money itself does none of these for us. Money is only the tangible root to our happiness. I mean, yes, money pays the bills that allow us to live indoors, but who gave you that money?

Who granted you the intelligence to graduate with your engineering degree? Who gave you the courage to speak publically? Who blessed you with the competence to run a business? Who, when you get down to it, gave you your job? Your experience? Your success?

Was it money?

Or was it God?

So then, why do even we Christians covet money? We should know better! For it warns in Timothy 6:9-10 that

  • 9 Those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. 10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.”

So, let us not wander from the faith as to gain worldly success. Instead, let us follow God’s path, and gain eternal success!

And don’t worry. Even when it seems that you won’t go anywhere in this world “playing nice”, God WILL provide. You are NEVER at an uncalculated disadvantage with the Lord.

Jeli

I have dimples. That is all you need to know. Just kidding. I am Jeli. In the past year I have undergone a lot of life-altering events in which my faith has really benefited. I have learned a lot about what I have done wrong and what I should do right. That is why I am here, on TAYA. I want to tell you guys about those things that I did wrong, and to brainstorm ideas with you all on how to do right. So venture with me, think with me, and pray with me. :) Let's do this thing!
