Listening to God. Isn’t that such an interesting phrase that gets tossed around? I mean, we are able under the grace of God to get to live. Just that fact, that we were created and allowed to live a life that has opportunities and blessings of its own, is amazing.
No one will ever know the complete reasoning that the infinitely powerful God used for creating us and our earth, but we sure go on living as if we don’t care. We take so many miracles for granted, that we end up wanting more and more. Anyway, all of this leads up to people believing that the all-powerful God that rules over everything that we kow in life (and infinitely more than that), is obligated to communicate with us. More so, we get the idea in our heads that He should answer all of our problems, or at least respond to us every time we ask him for anything. Never mind the fact that we hardly every praise or thank him for anything, or acknowledge that God is responsible for the good things that happen in our life.
What I’m getting at is this. Listening to God is surely something that we need to be good at. It is hard to be good at this, and it seems old fashioned. There are so many times when I have begged God for an answer and got absolutely nothing. Well I should say, I got nothing that I was expecting. As much as I wish there was a better answer, I have to say that patience is so often the answer. Sometimes we are just called to wait for God to pave the road ahead, while we better ourselves in every way possible. Also, keep this in mind.
God’s decisions are always right and perfect. It stands to reason that the more in tune we are with God, the closer our decisions line up with His. Therefore, the more we study the bible, pray, and spend time being together with other Christians, the closer our decisions will be to perfect. Decisions are not just made at the second we make them. Decisions are made with every action we do, every thought we think, and every circumstance that we put ourselves into.
Our entire life leads up to every new decision we make, and if we have prepared well, we will make the right decisions.
Just keep your head up; when God’s not giving you answers, it is because
A) He knows you are very close to the right answer
B) He has already provided you with the strength and wisdom to make the right decision. Sometimes it’s time for us to just put our big boy pants on and work through problems on our own. Those are the times in which we truly grow as individuals.
I am a senior at Brandywine High School and am just trying to make a difference in my community. There are many different decisions that are in need of making soon, but for now I am just enjoying the life that God has given me, and preparing to follow his direction.
