Little Jimmy Rise Above
You, and three year old little Jimmy are playing hide and seek. You are the only two in the house. You hear a crash and rush to find Jimmy sitting next to a broken vase. You ask, “What happened?” and of course little Jimmy says, “It wasn’t me”.
Little Jimmy is afraid of what will happen if you knew what he did. He is afraid of being held accountable.
We are all little Jimmy, afraid of what will happen if God is real, afraid of what will happen if God knew what we have done.
Consequently, when we little Jimmies are told we are wrong, we get hostile. We don’t want to admit responsibility for our actions; and for many, this means having to stop what we are doing – to stop and rise above our nature.
Rise above premarital sex.
Rise above greed.
Rise above selfishness.
Rise above hate.
Yet, as Christians, we need to realize that even though it is difficult to reject our nature, we MUST!
God is depending on us to accomplish a mission. When we start following the world, we stop following him.
So, don’t be little Jimmy. Read the bible, pray to the Lord, and look for the Truth for the Truth shall set you free.
–HE shall set you free. –
For we do not have a high priest who is unable to Sympathize with our weakness but we have one who has been tempted in every way just as we are and yet was without sin. let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence that we may receive mercy and find grace and help and trust in our time of need. - Hebrews 4:15-16
~~~~~~
Unfortunately though, some little Jimmies don’t do this, instead, they do one of two things.
- They reject us
- They reject the Lord
I have dimples. That is all you need to know. Just kidding. I am Jeli. In the past year I have undergone a lot of life-altering events in which my faith has really benefited. I have learned a lot about what I have done wrong and what I should do right. That is why I am here, on TAYA. I want to tell you guys about those things that I did wrong, and to brainstorm ideas with you all on how to do right. So venture with me, think with me, and pray with me. :) Let's do this thing!
Great reminder.
But remember, we can rise above our situation not with our own power and brute strength, but with the power of Jesus Christ in us.
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”
Philippians 4:13
