Its not like pornography is rape or anything so it doesn’t hurt anyone…. Does it??
Pornography does hurt people! Specifically it hurts God, Your Family, and You!
It hurts God because it goes against his command. You find in Mathew 5:28 But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart. When a person is watching porn it is for no reason other than lust, so that person is breaking Gods 7th command!
Pornography hurts your family. It especially hurts your significant other. Just like the verse above the person looking at Pornography is committing adultery in their heart. As much as the person wants to water it down this is not being faithful to the relationship. The person’s significant other often will feel betrayed, insignificant, insufficient and hurt. This puts a strain on the relationship and makes it difficult to have true intimacy.
When a person has looked at porn they have created an ideal fantasy that no one can live up to. Since the relationship is fictitious and does not involve a real person the real relationships will feel insufficient and unsatisfying. It often time leads to unfaithfulness in a relationship. The person who is addicted to porn is addicted to sexual pleasure and may eventually blur the lines between mentally cheating on their significant other to physically cheating!
Pornography is something that is practiced in secret and is very easily accessible, it doesn’t necessarily cost much money so it is easy to get very addicted very quickly! It is something you can do in your own home. Is this something you would want your mom, wife or kids to stumble on. It is embarrassing for you and your family. Lie’s can start to play a part in hiding this from the family, and also plays as a distraction from the family. Dad’s become obsessed with fulfilling they need for sexual gratification and take time away from their kids.
Pornography will hurt you! It may just be a fun pass time for you right now but it will eventually build a prison for you.
Pornography like any other addiction starts out being a great way to fulfill your desire. Over time it doesn’t work as well you have to find kinkier and more hardcore things. It will trap you and make you think you can’t live without it. This is the way that pornography will hurt you.
So its not like pornography is rape or anything but it absolutely does cause, hurt, confusion and guilt just the same.
Though this is a tough sin to get out of you are not alone! There are ministries such as xxx church to help you break this addiction and restore you to spiritual health.
You are never too far gone, too addicted, or too sinful for God to take you back with open arms!
